Theme (Use Skin)

Pick a look you like: Dark, Winter, Milk Chocolate, Ocean Blue. The change applies immediately after you choose a theme.

Threat list updates
Choose when Trojan Killer downloads the latest definitions:

  • On startup – update once when the app starts.

  • Before every scan – update right before scanning for the best detection.

Sound notifications
Use the speaker icon to turn sounds on or off.

Scan settings

Toggle the options you want, then click Apply.

Terminate memory threats while scanning
Stops and removes active malware running in memory during the scan. Recommended.

Use heuristic rules
Detects suspicious behavior and patterns that signature-only scans can miss. May increase scan time a little.

Deep scan (slow)
Thorough, sector-by-sector style checks for stubborn threats and leftovers. Use when you suspect a deeply hidden infection.

Ignore incomplete files
Skips corrupted or partially downloaded files that apps are not using. Helps speed up scans and reduce false alarms.

Anonymous statistics
Optional. Send anonymized detection stats to the Gridinsoft team to improve malware coverage. No personal files or data are collected.

Info
Tip: If you enable Deep scan and Heuristics together, expect longer scans but higher detection on tricky threats.

Apply and use

After changing options, click Apply.
Your next scan will use the new settings.

Portable Edition note

If you run the Portable Edition from a USB drive, settings are saved in the app’s folder on that drive. Use the same USB to keep your preferences across PCs.

Troubleshooting

  • I don’t see updates: ensure you are online and the Threat list updates option is not set to Off.

  • Scan is too slow: disable Deep scan for routine checks; keep Heuristics on.

  • Too many alerts on damaged files: enable Ignore incomplete files.

If something still feels off, take a screenshot of the Settings window and contact Support.
